On June 21, 2025, Abbott signed HB 46 into law, expanding Texas’s Compassionate Use Program. Key highlights include:
- Adding qualifying conditions like chronic pain, Crohn’s disease, and traumatic brain injury
- Allowing multiple administration methods (vaping, patches, lotions, etc.)
- Raising THC dosage limits (up to 10 mg per dose, 1 g per package)
- Issuing more licenses—up to 15 distributors (mpp.org)
This move makes Texas the 40th state with a workable medical cannabis system (mpp.org).
